Press Inspections and Standards guidance notes
All machines manufactured and sold in the EU since 1995 have had to be CE marked, this means the machinery directive and all supporting sub directives in force at the time of installation would have to have been satisfied in order to obtain the CE mark. Inspections should therefore be based on regulations in force at the time of installation.
All inspections should be carried out by competent independent experts, a copy of a sample report should be examined by the customer prior to ordering inspections, and a full copy of the inspection should be recieved by the customer within 14 days of the inspection.
Generally speaking all machines should be maintained in the same condition as when they where first installed. This should ensure that the machine continues to be as safe as when it was installed, although new legislation will have come into force since installation with the exception of PUWER very little of this is retrospective.(PUWER can reduce frequency of inspection if safety is upgraded)
Compliance with PUWER is achieved briefly by 2 actions
1 Maintenance (properly carried out and documented)
2 Through Inspection and Testing (with full documentation)
